“Oppa, help me,” Jea pouted while handing him the half-carved pumpkin, the knife stabbing into the rough shell.
Joon chuckled. “What do you have against pumpkins? It looks like a scratching post.”
“Yah, I get it already, I suck at pumpkin carving. That’s why you’re fixing it for me,” She strolled off to the kitchen in his dorm, rummaging through the food in his fridge. “Hey, you don’t have any legit food in here!”
“If I ate legit food, the I won’t have any room for you,” he smiled while carefully tending to the poor pumpkin. “There’s cookies in the cupboard on the right, so help yourself.”
Jea’s eyes sparkled with excitement as she carried the box of madelines out to the living room, where the pumpkin surgery took place.
“Just make sure you don’t get too fat,” he looked up from the salvaged pumpkin. “Or else you’ll have no more chocolate left for me.”
She sat down beside him, sticking her tongue out. “Go eat your own.”
“You taste better.”
“That’s because I eat actual food.”
“You eat too much.” He laughed and handed her the pumpkin. “All done. By the way, remind me why we’re making these again?”
“It’s Halloween,” she puffed her cheeks up while reaching for a cookie. “And when it’s Halloween, we carve pumpkins and watch movies. Oh, and we eat candy, lots and lots of candy!”
“Why at my dorm though,” he looked sadly at the floor, covered in crumpled paper towels, pumpkin guts and candy wrappers. ‘She is soo going to get it later,’ he thought to himself.
“In Young threw a party at our dorm and Joong Hoon’s on a trip.” She replied simply while handing him another pumpkin. “Which means I get to stay with you~”
“Oh, so you’re just using me as a substitute slave,” he picked up the pumpkin and the carving knife. “Hey wait a minute, you carve this yourself!”
“Nooo~ I don’t know how.”
“I’ll show you,” he took her hand in his and carefully made an outline on the rough orange skin. Instead of paying attention to his instructions, Jea focused on his face instead.
“And then after that you just cut it.” He turned his head to face her. “Get it?”
“Huh? Oh yeah.” She replied as his hand loosened. “Hey, feed me a cookie?”
“Just one, please?” She looked at him with puppy eyes. Joon stuck his face into the bowl and fished a cookie out with his teeth.
“What happened to your hands?”
“Har hirhy (They’re dirty),” he closed in on her face until the cookie touched her lips. “…Huh ee ih. (Just eat it.)”
Giggling, she shyly bit onto the other half of the cookie. Finishing her first bite, she returned to eat the second half when coincidentally he ate it, causing her to bite his lips.
“Yah Jea!” He cried. “You want me to be lip-less?”
“You said you don’t eat food, you won’t need them anyway! Why’d you eat my cookie?”
“It was in my mouth! You bit me!”
“Fine,” she leaned in and gently kissed him, licking his somewhat swollen lips. “Better?”
“I’ll get you back for that,” he rolled his eyes. Eventually they cleaned up the makeshift surgery table and the mess on the floor. After lighting the candles, Jea pranced to the light switch and turned all the lights off.
As Joon walked out of his room with Saw 6 in his hand, he couldn’t help but notice how beautiful Jea looked, with the candles gently outlining her delicate face. Wait, what was he thinking. ‘REVENGEEE,’ he drilled into his mind, and a stoic expression dominated his face.
“Oppa~” She pounced on him and dragged him onto the couch. “What do you want to do now?”
“Watch a movie,” he replied with an evil glint in his eyes. “You up for it?”
“Okay,” she watched him put a disc into the DVD. “What are we watching?”
“…Is it over yet?”
“You can open your eyes now.”
Jea slowly parted her fingers from her eyes, only to see the man in the movie get ripped to shreds. Screaming she buried herself in his chest, grabbing onto him for dear life.
“You lied!” Sightly opening one eye, she squeezed it shut when the man’s guts spilled all over the floor. “Yah, who turned off the lights?”
Jea felt a tap on her shoulder. She shrieked.
Joon laughed till tears appeared in his eyes. “You’re so stupid.”
“Fine, I’m sorry.” He rolled his eyes and tilted her head up so her eyes could meet his. “What do you want me to do for you?”
“Kiss me,” she replied in a childish voice and pointed to her mouth. “Right here.”
He leaned in and gave her quick peck. “Happy?”
So he kissed her again.
“Just do it.”
“…” He leaned in to kiss her again while pushing her onto the couch, this time harder than the previous two. Finally he pulled away. “Are you happy now?”
“Like how you did earlier, with that cookie.”
“It’s not like I scared you twice, why do I have to do that?”
“For every person that dies in this film, you have feed me that many cookies.”
“That’s… 6 people.” Sighing, Joon had no choice but to feed her that many cookies.
“Mhm~” She smiled happily and leaned her head against his chest, slowly falling asleep.
Eventually, the movie ended. Joon looked at the clock hanging on the wall. It read 1:43AM.
Getting up from the couch, he gingerly picked her up and carried her to the door. Jea’s grip suddenly tightened.
“Don’t leave me,” she murmured.
Joon glanced at her baby-like face. She looked so peaceful and happy, snuggling in his arms. Like a sleeping angel.
And was he going to let other people see her beautiful complexion?
Of course not.
He carried her into his room and gently laid her on the bed. Pulling the blanket over her curled-up body, he caressed her face and brushed away a few stray hairs. As he was about to leave, he felt something hold onto his hand.
“I told you not to leave me… Are you deaf?” She mumbled.
With a smile, he crawled into bed, wrapping his arms around her. Lightly kissing her forehead, he closed his eyes and fell asleep.
Right now it didn’t matter if he really loved her or not. Right now, Jea just wanted to stay in his arms.
